Antonucci: CTA Could Spend $12 Million

Published:  April 14, 2009

MIke Antonucci, a persistent critic of teachers' unions, writes at his Education Intelligence Agency that the California Teachers Assn. could spend up to $12 million in support of the measures on California's May 19 special election ballot. The union thus far has donated more than $2 million--no chump change--but $12 million seems high to your blogger. TV ad rates are down around the state and there's little electoral competition, so buying ad time is cheaper than usual in California. (A typical statewide TV ad buy runs about $4 million a week).
